Liz brings a vibrant energy, great sense of humour, and a wealth of diverse life and professional experience to Cloverdale Early Education and Care. Born and raised in China, Liz’s career has spanned multiple industries — from consultancy and sales to education — each path building her strong communication skills, adaptability, and love for connecting with people.

Liz had her first taste of early childhood education in China, working in an after-school care program where she quickly discovered the joy of working with children. In 2018, she made the exciting move to Australia, where she travelled extensively across the country, living in a number of different states and territories. She recalls her time in Cairns fondly, but eventually settled in Perth, where she decided to fully pursue her passion for early childhood education.

After beginning her formal studies in early childhood education, Liz gained employment at a local early learning service, where her dedication and natural leadership skills saw her progress into the role of Room Leader in the toddler room. However, working in a service with no outdoor space left Liz longing for a more dynamic, nature-based environment. She was excited to join the Cloverdale team in 2024, drawn in by our spacious outdoor areas and nature playground, which provide endless opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration — something she values highly.
Liz is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and also speaks a little German, making her a valuable asset in supporting our multicultural community and helping children and families feel understood and connected.

When asked why she enjoys working in early childhood education, Liz shared a touching story of a child from a previous service who expressed how much they loved having her around. The strong bonds she formed with the children were a turning point, confirming that this was the field she truly wanted to be in. She also appreciates that early childhood education is a career she can take with her anywhere in the world — a perfect fit for someone with a love of travel.

Liz doesn’t have a single favourite age group but enjoys working with children from Toddlers to Kindy. She appreciates their growing independence and creativity and loves planning engaging and imaginative learning experiences tailored to their developing interests and abilities. She says she prefers these age groups as they’re “not as fragile as babies” — and their sense of wonder and energy matches her own.

Outside of work, Liz is passionate about travelling and exploring the outdoors — particularly hiking — and also loves nothing more than a good nap. Her colleagues describe her as extremely funny, with a quick wit and infectious laugh that keeps everyone smiling. Liz considers herself a fast learner and a strong communicator, and these strengths shine through in her work every day.

With her warm personality, keen sense of humour, and genuine passion for helping children grow, Liz is a valued and much-loved member of the Cloverdale EEC team.

      This form is available for parents and their children to write a heartfelt message to their favourite teachers and other staff at Cloverdale Childcare. This is a tradition called a “Warm and Fuzzy”.

      While brightening the day of the recipients, and making them feel ‘Warm and Fuzzy’, these messages can be used to teach children about positive social interactions, to positively contribute to a supportive community, and to become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing.

      Our educators can also use these messages to engage with your child by asking how writing the message made them feel, and by the educator expressing how receiving the messages makes them feel.
